I’m Waiting for the Britannica Reunion EditionPosted: April 2, 2012
Today in business strategies we didn’t expect: Encyclopaedia Britannica found bank in discontinuing its print edition:
Before it announced the end of the print edition on March 13, Britannica was selling the encyclopedias at a languid pace of about 60 each week, at a $1,395 price tag. Since then, it has sold about 1,050 each week, or 150 a day, at the same price.
Not a shabby way to boost your sales. Wait until they do a historical, “archive” version and sell it as a collector’s item in a decade.
